GREEN COLONIALISM

Green Colonialism examines the ecological and socio-political aspects of 'green' energy transitions in Southern Africa. The exhibition, which culminates from a collaboration between the Mbare Art Space and the University of Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research (AISSR), features diverse artworks by Kimberly Tatenda Gakanje, Nkosiyabo Frank, and William Kachinjika.

The works interrogate how resource exploitation, framed within sustainability narratives, can perpetuate social, environmental, and epistemic injustices.

The exhibition is curated by Moffat Takadiwa and is funded by the University of Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research (AISSR) and ENLENS RPA, in partnership with the University of Amsterdam.
